ASCLERA®

Asclera® Injection is a prescription medicine that is used in a procedure called sclerotherapy to remove unwanted veins on your legs. It is injected to treat two types of veins:

  • Uncomplicated spider veins (very small varicose veins ≤ 1 mm in diameter)
  • Uncomplicated small varicose veins (1 to 3 mm in diameter) known as reticular veins

Pre-treatment:

There is no pre-treatment necessary.  Prior to treatment, your concerns, medical history and the medications you take are evaluated by our nurse practitioner to ensure the safety of the treatment and if Asclera® is the right treatment for you.

About your treatment:

Expect to your treatment session, including consultation to last 30-60 minutes.  Some patients may require multiple treatments depending on the severity of their spider and/or varicose veins.  Individual treatments are separated by 1-2 weeks.

Estimated down time:

There is no down time with Asclera, however, you should avoid heavy exercise, hot baths or hot tubs, sunbathing or extended plane flights or car travel.

Post-treatment:

You will wear compression stockings 24 hours a day for the first 2-3 days after your treatment and during the day for 2-3 weeks.  Compression stockings are very thick, very tight hose or socks that go up to the knee.
